11 Visual Bible Verses for Labor & Delivery

As I type this description, I’m preparing for the birth of my second child. All the supplies have been purchased, my parents have come up to stay with us, and my due date is in two days. All I have left to do is wait for my baby to arrive, right?

I thought so, until the Lord reminded me that I still need to prepare one thing: truth to hold onto during labor and delivery.

My first son was born in 2017, and it wasn’t a smooth experience. Way too many days of contractions. Interrupted home birth. Condescending nurses. Huge forceps. Tons of tearing and stitches. Several nights in the NICU. Pretty much exactly what I didn’t plan for.

It wasn’t until a week or so after my son was born that I was finally able to sit down with the Lord, process everything that happened and receive His love and perspective about the whole thing.

He was there in the hospital.

He was there weeping with me in the panicked environment of the medical staff deciding how my baby was going to be born.

His hands were guiding the doctor’s hands as he pulled my son out.

The revelation of His presence in it all was the most healing and comforting thing I had ever experienced. May He receive all glory for the things He has done.

This time, whenever that may be (hopefully soon!), I want more of Him and to be aware of His presence and the joy He is speaking over my husband, baby and me the whole time I’m in labor.
